The introduction of digital intermediate to the field of movie production has made advanced lighting and color manipulation of film possible. Digital intermediate refers to the process where film negatives are scanned, producing a digital representation of the film, which is subsequently altered before it is recorded back onto film. This offers exciting new possibilites for color correction, but it also emphasizes the need for color management throughout the process.

In order to achieve optimal results according to the creative vision behind the movie, it is necessary to convey the intended look of each scene to the film laboratory. This process requires the communication of color corrected digital still images to the laboratory, so that these images can be used as a basis for the work performed there. The goal of this project is to develop a tool that can be used for this purpose.
